Knitting Needles Hairpin Lace Looms

Bits & Pieces of our
Lives
Ed has been turning out dozens of the Looms, as well as trying to get ahead of orders for the Turkish Spindles. He encountered an episode of a moderately severe reaction to working with ebony. Though he wears protective clothing, and a respirator system, he likes drinking from a quart jar during the day. The day after he began feeling sick and started sporting rashes he picked up the Mason jar to drink from when he the top of his tea was covered with fine wood dust. No wonder his allergies kicked in aggressively! He daydreams of an overnight fishing trip at the coast. One of these days he'll need to close his shop and take some much needed R&R. He's been steadily working, often seven days a week, with no real breaks since... Hmm, I can't remember when he simply took a day off to do something relaxing. Working with wood still continues to be his passion and most days he loves working in his shop. The violin has been getting a workout lately. Crooked Finger played at the Irish Dinner fundraiser again this year. It seemed to be the best we've played together in ages. Despite the fact that we didn't rehearse together before the gig! We've been asked to play for the Earth Day celebration at the Oregon Garden on April 22nd. The Abiqua Strings is scheduling a couple performances for late April, early May. Some days I'm not sure playing Bluegrass/Celtic/Folk is a good mix with Classical -- I don't have time to devote to both the way I should. The yarn for Sarah's jacket is threaded through the headles. It feels good to be back at the loom after what seems like a long period of no weaving. A set a double-trouble socks are on the circulars. I recently bought some cotton chenille to make a towel using the #19 circulars. A friend is making a towel, very inspiring! I'll post a picture when it gets going. The tutorial is almost finished. :-) MC proofread it with lots
of good suggestions which I'm editing. I had so much fun using pictures that I
was astonished how much colored ink was used for the first three copies printed. It's probably best to have a batch printed professionally. |
